Staten Island Locals was started in October 2022 by Emily Casey as a radio show on WSVA Radio, the radio station at the School of Visual Arts. Em played music by SI musicians and interviewed artists such as Ben Satt, Thomas Clinton, Matt Foronjy, Victoria Rymer, Deke Blackburn, and more. As she got more into the local music scene Staten Island Locals expanded to include a blog featuring articles about what's happening on the island! A big highlight of the blog is Em's photography. Some notable articles include: Rosefest, Punk Island, March Madness at Richmond Tattoo, Maker Park Radio's Battle of the Bands, and Female Centric Faber. The blog also features write ups of events from guest writers such as Rayna Pajares-Held, Pam Aliotta, and Justin Alpert.

 

In December of 2023 the Staten Island Locals radio show was revived on Maker Park Radio, a Non-Profit Community Streaming Radio Station broadcasting from Stapleton. The show airs every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 8pm-10pm. Like before, the show features music from SI musicians and interviews of different artists!

 

The Staten Island Locals Instagram has also served as a major source for news and updates about what's going on in the forgotten borough.
